Description:
This is a 1939 dated helmet with a size Medium Mk. 2 liner. The helmet has a non-magnetic brim and retains 75-80% of the original black painted finish with age crackling throughout and the balance flaked to the underlying plum-brown metal. Large, white painted "LR" markings are present on the crown both fore and aft. The interior lining is in excellent condition, and the elastic chinstrap is intact and fully serviceable. These helmets were used by rescue crews whose job it was to extricate victims of building collapse during the Blitz. This example is in good-near very good condition, and would make a nice addition to any collection.;
