Description:
DWM Model 1920 Navy Commercial Luger in 9mm Luger. This pistol was originally manufactured as a standard Model 1906 (2nd Issue) Navy Luger and was subsequently refurbished and sold commercially after the conclusion of World War I. The barrel extension is marked with Imperial German navy proofs on the left side, which are also present on the left side of the barrel and breechblock. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Underside of frame is stamped "GERMANY" just ahead of the trigger guard, with German Kriegsmarine Kiel "W.K./ 4077" unit mark present on the backstrap. Metal components exhibit what appears to be a period reapplied blue finish overall, with strawed parts also appearing to have been reheated at the same time. The frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard blade front sight, with Navy rear sight graduated from 100-200. All serialized parts are matching in the commercial fashion and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, grip safety, bbl., bbl. extension breechblock, and toggles. Grips are unnumbered. MAGS: 1 wood spuriously matching wood bottom 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain most of their period reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as some spots of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting present overall. Barrel and barrel extension exhibit light to mild pitting beneath the bluing. Grip safety retains a mottled gray patina. Strawed parts are very good, showing some wear and thinning, with the trigger exhibiting areas of age-related discoloration. Near mirror bore, exhibiting areas of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing but otherwise remain very good overall. Left grip panel exhibits a crack on the interior at the top right corner by the safety lever. 9mm Luger
