Description:
This is an excellent WWII U.S. M1 Carbine that was manufactured by Inland in late 1943. This carbine is unusual in that the serial number is followed by an "X" suffix. The receiver is also marked "SG" on the left side, below the wood line. This indicates that the receiver was actually manufactured by Saginaw for Inland. Apparently Saginaw inadvertently duplicated the serial numbers of some receivers that were manufactured by Inland and thus the "X" was added to avoid having two weapons with the exact same number. The early style "high wood" stock is in excellent shape with the correct large ordnance wheel cartouche on the right side of the butt and "IO" in the sling slot. Barrel is Inland and dated 12-43. .30 Carbine
