Description:
For sale today is a beautiful Kimber Valier Grade II in rarely seen 16ga. A light, lively, and properly scaled bird gun, the Valier features a traditional Holland & Holland style 7-pin sidelock action. Keeping to tradition, it has double triggers (w/ articulated front) and an English stock. This package offers a quality, head-turning, small-bore sidelock at an excellent price. I just listed my 20ga Valiers and both sold within 48 hrs, so don’t wait!
The 28" chopper lump barrels are finished with a beautiful Belgium rust blue, are fixed choked to IC/MOD, and are topped with a solid matted rib. The barrels are very balanced by a straight grip stock fashioned from stunning Turkish walnut (great handling! balance point just forward of hinge pin). The fine walnut is traditionally hand finished with oil and is finely hand checkered to 24 lines-per-inch, including a fully checkered butt. The forend is a classic splinter profile with Deely latch.
The action is lightly hand engraved which really showcases its elegant bone and charcoal case hardening that has produced a stunning pallete of colors. You won't see colors this pretty on guns double this price. The gold-lined cocking indicators adds a nice little touch against the beautiful array of blues, grays, and brown of the sidelock plates. It is chambered for 2 3/4" shells, which is especially nice now that specialty 2 1/2" shotshells for vintage guns are difficult to find and expensive to purchase. It's also chrome lined for use of steel shot. This gun will take any of your modern loads.
As you can see, this double is in very nice condition. It has been hunted with and used, but has been very well cared for. Other than some light handling marks, there are no issues. No cracks in the wood, no dents or dings in the barrels, no rust or pitting. As you would expect, the gun functions perfectly; great triggers, solid lock up with well fitted barrels, and perfectly timed ejectors. The original box, owners manual, and velvet sleeves are included.
This guns offer exceptional value. They have become difficult to find (ESPECIALLY in 16ga) so take advantage while you can! This is a great buy for a beautiful, quality gun!
