Description:
The M1903 rifle is a clip-loaded 5 round magazine-fed bolt-action service rifle with a 24" barrel. This rare "RA" example remains in very good condition with minimal wear. The top of the receiver is marked "U.S. / REMINGTON / MODEL 03-A3 / 4031613". The top of the barrel is marked "R A / flaming bomb / 9 – 43" and the bottom of the barrel is marked "P". The safety is marked "SAFE READY" and the magazine cutoff is marked "ON OFF" with an "R". The right rear of the bolt body, safety lever, nose cap, front sight hood, magazine cutoff lever, and the rear sling loop are marked "R" for Remington. The left side of the stock, above the trigger, is marked "RA" (Remington Arms), with a "crossed cannons" cartouche and an inspector cartouche, "FJA in a box". The bottom of the wrist has a circled "P" stamp and the bottom of the forend has four stampings in front of the floorplate "triangle 83, circle 20, square V, circle 41. The front sight is a pinned blade set atop a raised base with a protective hood. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight marked from "2-8" on the top and "0" with hash marks on the rear. The two-piece oil-finished wood stock has a straight grip, metal nose cap with bayonet lug, stacking loop, two barrel bands, two sling loops, two reinforcing pins, and a metal buttplate with a hinged door .30-06 Springfield
