Description:
This is a pair of Kings Royal Rifle Corps Officers Astrakhan Busby's. One fine example with black wool body and green cloth top having knotted pattern with two KRRC badges on the side. Twist knotted cord with blackened strung bugle fitting. Central headdress badge with the crown fitted to the center of knotted boss with front badge. Blackened leather backed chinstrap. Interior with brown leather sweatband, black cloth lining and tailors stamp "CARER & CO." over "56" over PALL MALL over LONDON". Overall very good condition. The second is also of fine quality without badge, has all the same characteristics of the first but no makers mark. I would say it is a back up to the other. It is in size "7". These come complete with 2 original officers plume holders with no feathers. Also with this group is and original Hat Box/Case made of sheet steel painted black with a hinged cover, clasp closer on front and a cylindrical feather keeper welded into the underside of the lid. Approximate size 14 1/4"x7 1/4"x4 1/2". On a piece on tape on the bottom of the box is the name "McMahon: 5641/5638
