This is a historic and unique 1/2 scale 1911A1 that was produced using steel from the World Trade Center, taken shortly after the 9/11 attacks. One of only 13 ever produced, but we believe only two are in the US. This listing includes a certificate of provenance from Michael Capriola, who was a Detective Sergeant in New York in 2001. Capriola was tasked to meet with then FDNY Commissioner and salvage steel from the North Tower to rectify a 9/11 memorial. During this process, some portion of the salvaged steel was provided to Miniature Arsenal. While A36 structural steel is proven for skyscraper construction, it is not ideal for firearms manufacture. This example was built using a pattern-welding that incorporates small blends of other metals and creates a "Damascus" external appearance. This example has a full 'Damascus' external pattern, with blued small parts. More detail is available on request that goes into the background of this project - how it came to be and how it was completed.
