Winchester 1887 10 gauge shotgun. Bluing is good - no pits on barrel, action, or magazine tube. Functions perfectly. 22-1/4" barrel. As per Guns of the American West, "Custom barrel lengths were also offered and a short barrel version was available for lawmen, guards, and messengers requiring a lighter, more maneuverable shotgun. Most guard guns had a 22-1/4 inch barrel, making the Winchester lever action shotgun one incredibly imposing weapon!" This shotgun was from Yuma, AZ, and rumored to be from the territorial prison. At one time, the gun was re-blued and the wood was refinished. Gun appears to be a strong 90% condition. The serial number is 24659.
