Description: Rare Hoffman Arms Kornbrath engraved 12 gauge with 31 1/2" F/F extractor ventilated rib barrels with white mid and front beads. Ventilated between the barrels. Bores are excellent measuring .732 right and left. Choked .041 right and left. Chambers are 2 3/4" Barrels and receiver with a bifurcated lump locking system like Boss, Perazzi, & Beretta. Lockup is tight. Blued fancy scallap back receiver with cocking indicators, trigger bow safety, and non-selective single trigger with checkered face. Trigger bow extends to the grip cap. There is 85% coverage of scroll engraving by Rudolph Kornbrath with "Hoffman Arms Co." engraved on each side. The Monte Carlo pistol grip stock is done in a very nice piece of English Walnut with dark mineral streaks. Shadow line cheekpiece, steel pistol grip cap, and three piece forend. LOP is 13 5/8" over a Silver's pad. DAC-1 5/8" DAH- 1 3/4" as measured as an extension of the Monte Carlo. Neutral cast. Weighs in at a hefty 9lb 1oz Both buttstock and forend are solid and without cracks or repairs except for a filled chip on the left lower side of the stock abutting the receiver. This gun is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. It is totally unmarked except for "Hoffman Arms Co." engraved on each side of the receiver, "O 2 U" on the receiver flats where they meet the barrels and an "R" on the left side of the trigger plate next to the trigger. There are no other markings whatsoever. I have never seen another Hoffman Over/Under and my best guess would be that this was a one off prototype. It is absolutely extensively Kornbrath engraved. To my knowledge Hoffman never used another engraver. The ventilated rib is by Simmons and thus a later add on. Given the stock style and checkering I would guess it to be a later replacement. Any outside inormation regarding this gun would be appreciated. Overall a very unique shotgun. Price: $3,850.00 |
