Description:
A most interesting historical gun is this 1861/1861 rifle with an original 30" barrel of .58cal with a fouled bore. Barrel is original length and arsenal made. Why Naval? Barrel and lock were tin plated at the time of being made and evidence of plating on both lock and barrel. Lock wirks well and an Eagle and Springfield no date. American walnut stock is good and has some inspector initials on the opposite side of lock., and rear sight with a Civil War type bayonet. Overall much wear and use but solid and intriguing!
