This Verney-Carron Azur Safari Luxe is a formidable double rifle built by one of France’s premier gunmakers. Chambered in the legendary .600 Nitro Express, it delivers over 8,000 ft/lbs of energy—power sufficient for any dangerous game anywhere on Earth. This rifle is a true expression of bespoke safari craftsmanship.
It features a 24" barrel set and a reinforced boxlock action with triple underbite locking lugs, bolstered frame, double triggers, and a non-automatic safety. The action is exceptionally strong and locks up tight, with smooth operation and clear, sharp bores. The quarter rib is matted and fitted with a standing rear sight for 25 yards, complemented by flip-up express leaves for 50 and 100 yards. The front sight is a ramped express blade with a flip-up night bead.
This rifle showcases tasteful scroll engraving throughout, with a finely detailed cape buffalo engraved on the underside of the action. The triggerplate bears the signature “R. Pamonte M.D.F.,” suggesting the engraver's mark.
The walnut stock and forend are truly exceptional, exhibiting dramatic grain with sharp checkering, a right-handed palm swell, and a 14.75" length of pull to an orange recoil pad with black spacer. The balance and weight—15 lb 2 oz—are ideal for taming this mighty cartridge.
Included is a custom-fit oak and leather case with red interior, crafted by Alexandre Mareuil, the renowned French leather goods maker. The case is labeled and stitched inside with the maker’s mark, completing this exquisite safari package.
