Description:
For sale is a very nice Belgium Browning Medallion Grade bolt action rifle! Production numbers for these rifles are extremely low and often overlooked or not even known by most. In total the estimated production for all calibers in the Medallion Grade is estimated at 4035. Of these only 125 are reported as being chambered in .308win. These figures are from a table in Browning's historical records, showing production numbers for Olympian and Medallion grade rifles produced in 1964-1978. They are not a complete production record as they began producing them in 1960 or 1961 but it is the best reference I believe exists for these rifles.

Not only are these rifles low production, they are also extremely high quality. The hand crafted stock features excellent wood grain, capped with rosewood, and finished in high gloss. The skip line checkering is also hand cut and features an exquisitely carved border. The cost to reproduce one today, in equal quality, is more than the price of the entire rifle. Quoted to me by one of the few stockmakers I would trust with this task, his price to me was $5000 for a Medallion grade stock and $8500 for an Olympian grade. The receiver and barrel are tastefully scroll engraved and finished in Browning's signature high luster blue. The floorplate features the Medallion's signature gold filled Ram's Head surrounded by scroll!

The wood and metal condition are excellent. Barrel measures 22 inches and the bore is bright and shiny! This rifle was produced before the dreaded "Salt Era" but has been silver nitrate tested and is not subject to the salt wood issue. The scarcity, material quality, and craftsmanship make these rifles quite exceptional as collector's items as well as investments.

The box is very crisp and does not appear to ever had an end label on it, there is a proper unnumbered label in the box as well. I am not sure if this was added to the gun later or if it potentially left the factory that way. We received another 308 safari from the same collection that had the same box situation, crisp box with unnumbered label inside.

Don't hesitate to call or text me at 402-314-2729 if you have any questions or concerns, happy to help if I can!

I provide a 5 day inspection period to ensure you are happy with everything and that I was accurate in my description and photographs. I hope to find good homes where these collectible pieces will be appreciated and enjoyed.

Shipping is a flat $75 to lower 48 (PRIORITY MAIL, INSURED FOR THE VALUE OF THE GUN). It will be well packaged and cared for.
