U.S. Springfield Model 1922 M2 bolt action training rifle chambered in 22 long rifle. The rear left side of the barrel shank is marked, "LONG RIFLE CART'GE ONLY". The top front of the barrel is marked, "S A / 5 – 3\7" with a flaming bombproof. The top of the receiver is marked, "U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY CAL. .22 M2 7127" The bolt handle is marked, "NS M2" with an "0" on the bottom. The bolt body is marked, "M2" and electropenciled "7082". The front locking lug face has a flaming bomb with a "T" in the center. The safety flag is marked, "READY / SAFE" and the mag disconnect tab is unmarked with a "2" on the lower body. The front sight is pinned blade banded to the barrel with a rear adjustable Lyman 48C target peep sight. The stock is a single piece walnut with a barrel band/sling loop, finger grooves, semi-pistol grip, straight comb, sling loop, and checkered steel butt plate without trap door.
