Description:
General Specs: L.C. Smith, 2025, 12 Gauge, 8lbs. 2oz., Chokes M/XF, LOP 16", DAH 3 1/8", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number:  RE78594

In the world of L.C. Smith shotguns, the Specialty Grade is a well-appointed gun, with generous engraving, nicely figured wood finely checkered, a true side lock and equal to a Grade 3 gun of other makers, ie DH Parker, C Grade Fox, etc.  This Specialty gun was built in 1925, serial number RE78594 is special in its own way and an ideal gun for the taller shooter! Check out the detailed photographs of the this Elsie, you will see that the stock has had a wood extension added to fit a shooter who requires a longer length of pull, this stock has been extended to a full 16”, the join is visible, but in day-to-day handling and lighting its less noticeable. At VFI we use professional studio lighting to show you all the details to help you make an informed choice, please study the images and you will agree this is an example of real craftmanship. The blending of grain really is a beautiful piece of artistry. If you want the gun adapting to your requirements, we have 5 full-time gunsmiths that can change a pad, alter stock dimensions or chokes, etc. without waiting in line…just let us know if you need anything customized. This stock as been fitted with a Purdey style leather covered pad.  Leather pads look “rich” and have the perfect combination of “slip” when mounting the gun and “stick” on your clothing during the shot, we believe it is the classiest way to terminate a buttstock on a shotgun. This L.C. Smith Specialty Grade is mechanically excellent in every way. The barrels have 98% dark factory blue, mirror bores with 2 ¾” chambers and choked Mod/Extra Full. The gun is tight on hinge and locks up tight on face, it has a regular frame with a reinforced forend lug, nicely timed ejectors, the gun has a Hunter One selective Trigger and manual safety.  The action has 90% thinning factory case color, perfect screws, sharp clear game scene and scroll engraving. The furniture has light figure, wood to metal fit is superb, checkering is excellent, and the wood is finished in an outstanding hand-rubbed oil finish. Weighing 8lbs. 2oz. and balanced on the hinge pin, this Elsie will not jar you with undo recoil and the barrels will swing through your target with ease. With these chokes you are covered for any eventuality, it will reach out and tag game or targets at 50 yards plus! whether it’s on the sporting fields or out in the wild this L.C. Smith will deliver results. This gun is in need of nothing except a new owner and trip to the range!
