A 25 pound size black metal can with a threaded metal plug. The can is embossed on both ends with "American Powder Co. Boston, Mass "American Powder was in business from 1868-1883 when it became "American Powder Mills." This is evidently a transition can as one end is stenciled in red paint "American Powder Mills.
