C. Sharps, Breech Loading Four-Shot Pepperbox, Second Model, .30 caliber, with silvered/brass frame, and gutta percha checkered grips.
Description:
Standard configuration 4-shot Breechloading C. Sharps pepperbox, cal .30 RF, made between 1859-1862 production approx. 35,000 in two separate serial number ranges, with 3" barrels having fixed front and grooved rear sight. Left side of frame marked "C. Sharps" followed by patent date. Right side of frame marked with "C. Sharps & Co/Philada. PA". Full serial number on butt and under the barrel. Fitted with brown checkered rubber grips. ANTIQUE.
Condition:
G/VG original condition with the barrels retaining much of their fire blue heat finish. Much of the silvering over the frame has worn to expose the underlying brass. Excellent original grips with a few superficial handling marks. No cracks or splits. One of the better Sharps pepperbox handguns in .30RF from the late 19th century.
