Description:
Very early Mauser Type B in 8x57 manufactured in 1907 with a 24" round barrel. Ramp front sight with no provision for hood. Barrel band sling stud and tangent rear sight. Bore is excellent. Standard round top receiver never drilled and tapped. Double set triggers and bullet trap floorplate release. This gun has a fairly rare round bolt knob rather than the usual pear shaped knob. This is absolutely correct for a small number of early guns in this serial range and is correctly numbered and proofed. Stock is solid with no cracks or repairs. Checkered Prince of Wales grip. LOP is 13 3/4" to the horn buttplate with intertwined WM. 7lb 4oz
This piece shows obvious use but still quite good condition for this era. Well over half of the factory Mauser Sporting Rifles ( 82,000 of 127,000 ) were made prior to WWI and survival on these early guns is low. An added bonus is the rarely seen round bolt knob!
