We are located in Antrim, New Hampshire Description: Marlin Model 1893 Takedown Rifle in 30-30 This Marlin Model 1893 Takedown Rifle is chambered in 30-30 it has a 26" octagonal barrel, standard walnut stocks, standard sporting rear sight and Marbles Sheard front sight. Condition: This Marlin 1893 Takedown is in fine shape overall. The 30-30, 26” octagon barrel has a mostly bright bore showing some oxidation in the grooves and with strong rifling. The barrel and magazine retain about 85% original blue with areas toning to a medium gray-brown patina under bright light, some light dings and minor oxidation speckling. The action cycles and locks up well and is toning to a pleasant silvery case-hardened patina with medium gray-brown undertones showing a bit of old oxidation staining and wisps of vibrant case-hardened colors throughout the protected areas. All markings remain intact and strong, the loading gate retains fine original bright blue. The plain walnut stocks remain in very good plus condition showing a healthy amount of original varnish that shows scattered light flaking with some dings and handling marks to be expected, the fit otherwise very fine throughout. The rifle is equipped with standard sporting rear sight and a Marble’s Sheard front sight. The takedown works well and is mechanically excellent. The Marlin takedown operates slightly different than the Winchester takedown. With Marlin there is a knurled cap at the end of the magazine tube. Where there is a button. Press the button and pull the mag tube out about an inch. Then at the junction of the action and barrel there is a takedown lever the lever pushes out. In some cases this lever is stiff so a couple light knocks on the lever with a nylon hammer will move it over. Open the action then unscrew the barrel and the barrel and action separate. To reassemble, screw the barrel onto the action until it stops, then push in the button and slide the mag tube down into position and let go of the button. Then push in the takedown lever. The lever on this rifle is a little stiff but the takedown is excellent. A very good and pleasing vintage Marlin takedown rifle in versatile 30-30.
