This is a very fine, Winchester Model 1892 / '92 saddle ring carbine. The Winchester Collector's ass'n. research places it's year of manufacture at 1926 - 99 years old. This carbine is chambered in the .25-20, the 20" barrel has an exceptional bore, it is bright, sharp, clean the whole way - no specks, frost, etc. I would rate it a 9.5. The rifle is in excellent overall condition. the wood is exceptional, unsanded. most of the original finish remains, showing a few scattered impressions, dings or shallow marks. The receiver has some original blue remaining in protected areas, the rest showing flaking, fading to a plumbish color, and a smooth carry wear - a bit more on the right lower side. The screw slots are nice, the top tang, bolt and barrel retain 95% blueing. The mag tube has a bit less, with a few , very fine scratches. The action works perfectly, crisp and positive - this is a sweet little carbine that has survived well, and hasn't been shot much. ***** This must ship to a FFL for transfer, C&R ok.
