COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER 45 COLT 12" BARREL EXTREMELY RARE, AN INCLUDED FACTORY LETTER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO SHIPPING INFORMATION. THE LETTER INDICATES IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN 1892. ALSO INCLUDES A LETTER DATED OCTOBER 26TH 1998, BY RON GRAHAM LETTER DISCUSSING THE RARITY OF A FACTORY ORIGINAL 12" BARREL ON A COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY AND THEORIZINIG THAT THE BARREL ON THIS COLT WAS ORIGINALLY MEANT FOR A "BUNTLINE" "28815" BASED ON THE "8815" NUMBER ON THE BARREL UNDER THE EJECTOR HOUSING. THAT REVOLVER WAS IN 44-40 AMD AND WAS SHIPPED ON JUNE 18TH 1881, TO J.B. JOHNSTON WITH NO BARREL LENGTH LISTED AND WAS WITHIN THE SERIAL NUMBER RANGE OF 28800-28830 KNOWN FOR THE BUNTLINE REVOLVERS. HE FURTHER THEORIZES THAT THE BARREL WAS TAKEN FROM AN ASSEMBLED. OR NEARLY COMPLETED REVOLVER, WHICH THE FACTORY HAD REDESIGNED THE CHAMBERING TO BE THE 44-40 WAS FINALLY USED TO COMPLETE A "SPECIAL ORDER" WITH A STANDARD FRAME REVOLVER 12" BARREL SINGLE ACTION FINISHED IN 1892. TO LEARN THAT THE SINGLE ACTION ARMY 147588, WITH A 12' BARREL. BUNTLINE BARRELED, ASSEMBLED DURING THE 1890'S SURVIVED THE RIGORS OF TIME TO BECOME A TREMENDOUSLY IMPORTANT PIECE OF COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY HISTORY. THIS EPITOMIZES THE EXCITEMENT OF COLLECTING FIREARMS. GREAT CONDITON WITH UNTOUCHED ORIGINAL MOTTLED GRAY AND BROWN PATINA SOME SCATTERED PITTING THROUGHOUT, THE REVOVLER HAS A REPLACED EJECTOR HOUSING. AND HAS GENERAL MODERATE WEAR OVERALL. SOME SMOOTHING TO THE CHECKERING ON THE GRIPS. THE LATER PRODUCTION REPLACEMENT SHOULDER STOCK IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITON, WITH FILLED AREAS AT THE HEEL AND TOE AND SOME MOUNTING WEAR. OVERALL, A TRULY FASCINATING ANTIQUE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY WITH BUNTLINE BARREL.
