Description:
NSN, .69 Caliber, 41 3/4" barrel with a good, lightly pitted bore. This is a Type II musket that has an 1827-dated barrel and an overall plum-brown patina on the metal with scattered patches of mild pinprick pitting, heaviest at the breech and around the vent. The lockplate has some mild surface oxidation throughout, and is nearly devoid of visible markings save for the "ILLBUR" portion of Waters’ Millbury, MA address behind the cock. The brass pan has developed a dark brown patina that closely matches the iron components, as has the sideplate. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and small blemishes throughout, with some heavy wear at the right side at the barrel tang. The ramrod is a later replacement, and the lock is fully functional, locking firmly at both half and full-cock. This is a very attractive Model 1816 musket, still in the original flint, and would make a great decorative piece for display. Antique;
