"Made circa 1800. 52 Caliber bore with a 45" barrel. This is gun is attributed to John Bonewitz by the very distinctive patch box. This is a massive Bench rifle weighing 16 pounds. The barrel has a dark brown to plum colored patina. The lock is marked “TRYON / Warranted" The stock is of curly maple and is in excellent condition overall. There was a break at the wrist and it has been repaired during period of use with iron strips in four places along the wrist. Very fine Unusually Large Kentucky Rifle. Accompanying this gun is a folder of research. This gun came out of the Tom Seymor collection. CONSIGNMENT
