Synopsis:

Exceptional and Scarce Remington Model 1890, Antique Revolver, Caliber .44-40 Winchester, Nickel Finish with hard rubber grips and lanyard ring, only approx. 2,020 made between 1890-1896. ANTIQUE!

Description:

Exceptionally rare Remington Model 1890 Single Action Army revolver represents one of only approximately 2,020 manufactured between 1890-1896, making it the final and most sought-after of Remington's legendary Old West single-action revolvers produced during the company's transition under new ownership following financial difficulties in 1888. Standard configuration Remington Model 1890 with 7.5 inch barrel having fixed front and notched rear sights. Single line address on top of barrel reading "REMINGTON ARMS CO ILION, N.Y." Left side of frame marked with caliber "44.C.F.W" Most major and minor components nickeled. Unnumbered hard rubber grips with "RA" logo over a bordered checkered field. Fitted with lanyard ring. Matching numbers on frame and loading gate. Unmarked cylinder and grips.

Condition:

VG+ nickel finish with muzzle wear, handling scuffs, and loss over the loading gate as carefully imaged. Likely an old re-nickle, as careful scrutiny shows micro irregularities under the nickle finish. The cylinder axel pin in nickeled rather than blued, and screw heads appear freshened. Comparable or better condition hard rubber grips with the left panel having several shallow depressions below the "RA" logo. Slightly dull bore with easily discernible rifling. Perfect manual mechanics with all cylinders locking up properly. An extremely attractive and matching Remington Model 1890 revolver, difficult to find under any circumstance. ANTIQUE!
