Description:
Scarce late production October 1942 J.P. Sauer & Sohn of Suhl special order M30 Drilling, with no Luftwaffe markings. Originally in 16GA 2 1/2" and 9.3x74R Express, later converted to 16GA 2 3/4" and .22 Hornet! Boxlock with single Kesten crossbolt, barrel selector and cocking indicators on the tang. Side mounted safety, 23.6" barrels in excellent condition, solid engine turned top rib with later added scope mount, cartouche with original rifle caliber has been erased. Rear open sight no longer rises due to rifle barrel change. OAL=39.8", choke R=LM, L=M. Nice walnut stock with old recoil pad. Not sure if part of Goering's Luftwaffe contract, but other 16 GA with eagle markings are known. According to the Royal Armory, 766 M30 had been delivered in 1941, 1621 in 1942 and 69 in 1943 – so possibly just a unmarked kickback for some officers or party member?
