This is a handsome pair of pistols that have pre-1855 "BPC" and "V" proofs on the undersides of the barrels. The barrels retain much of their original striped brown finish, with silvering and fading along the muzzles and on the raised portions of the breeches. The engraved back-action locks have a mottled gray patina on both pistols, while the wedge-fastened walnut stocks have numerous handling marks and small blemishes scattered throughout the old oil finish. Both pistols are fitted with captive ramrods, but one is an ill-fitting replacement. Pistols like these were sometimes left unmarked so that a retailer could add their name to them, but that was never done to these guns. This is a nice pair of British pistols, and are in very good overall condition. Antique Price: $2,995.00 |
