This is a very nice looking revolver that has matching assembly numbers ("F5") on the frame, cylinder, and barrel, with the metal retaining 80-85% of the original bright blue finish, with silvering along the exposed edges and some mild freckling scattered throughout. The cylinder has faded to a smooth plum-brown patina, as have portions of the gripstraps. There is a bright turn-ring on the cylinder, and some color case-hardening remains on the hammer. The rosewood grips are numbered to the gun on the interior and are in very good shape with minor handling marks marring the original varnish on both sides. The lock-up is positive, but there is some lateral play in the barrel when closed, and the action functions flawlessly. The pivot screw may have been replaced or reblued. Also the 2 in the serial number looks to have a single peen mark in it. This is an extremely nice S&W No. 2, and is in very good-near fine condition overall. Antique; Price: $1,595.00 Antique: Yes |
