Description:
Made in Sweden, the Husqvarna Model 1640 is a Mauser 98-style bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The Husqvarna 1600 series was a line of rifles introduced in 1953 as an action built in Sweden, as opposed to their previous importing of Belgian receivers from FN. This would bring the overall cost of the rifles down and make them more accessible to buyers both foreign and domestic to Sweden. Naturally, many rifles found their way to the US over the years in a variety of different calibers. This rifle in particular is a 1963 rifle in .30-06 Springfield. All the 1640s feature a set of open sights along with being ready to accept scope mounts. This rifle has a fixed rear sight with ramped front blade sight with silver bead. The rifle is also outfitted with a Fontaine 2-7x32mm variable scope (reticle shape #1) in Weaver scope rings and has impressive clarity! The Husqvarna 1640 utilizes a hinged magazine floorplate for easy unloading. The more svelte design of the sporter stock keeps the rifle lightweight, great for many hunting applications. One might even say that these 1640s are a close competitor to some Winchester Model 70 lightweight models! The stock shows typical signs of light wear and the barrel and receiver still have most of their finish. The barrel of this rifle looks to be in good condition, both inside and out. The bolt does have some rust in a few places, mainly on the outside of the extractor. However, the rifle operates very smoothly and locks up tight. Overall, this rifle is in good shooter's condition and is a neat step back in time to vintage hunting rifles of the 1950s-1960s. This Husqvarna 1640 does not include a box or case. .30-06 Springfield
