This truly superbshotgun, built and finished by London's best, for a very particular client, are listed in long time rifle maker, Charles Lancaster records. Barrels and action are by Boss out-workers with impeccable engraving by Marcus Hunt (Ken Hunt son's). 75 cm Demi-bloc barrels are fitted with Boss style ribs. Top of barrels are engraved "Charles Lancaster. London, England." Barrel flats are stamped with London proofs. Case hardened Boss type OU sidelock actions with pivoting trunions, non-automatic safetie (SAFE inlaid in gold), gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, and single trigger. Action and lockplates are engraved in near full coverage classic British style rose and scroll. "Charles Lancaster London" is engraved with gold on each side of the action.. Bottom of action is engraved "Charles Lancaster - England". Double beaded trigger guard has scroll on bow and serial number inlaid in gold on tangs which extend to matching. The execution of this minuscule shaded scroll engraving and fine rose bouquets is exceptional. Engravers signature (M A Hunt) is on left side of trigger.
Marbled and stump figured European walnut capped pistol grip measure 38,5 cm. Stock also feature classic tear drop points, closely spaced point pattern checkering with mullered borders at grip. Slim forend with Boss style ejectors have Anson releases.
CONDITION: Excellent, with scant evidence of firing, and only a few of the lightest handling and assembly marks on all wood and metal surfaces. Bores are excellent. Mechanically excellent. A stunning shotgun.
