Description: Fine Vintage British Enfield No.5 Mk I .303 JUNGLE CARBINE Offered here for sale and just acquired is this very fine and original British “Jungle Carbine” in fine condition. Here is a basic overview of the No. 5 Mk I jungle carbine: Caliber: .303 British Barrel Length: Approx. 21 inches with flash hider Action: Bolt-action Magazine: 10-round detachable box Flash Hider: Conical muzzle device to reduce muzzle flash in jungle environments Finish: Enamel/black paint-type finish common on metal parts The marking "ROF (F)" stands for Royal Ordnance Factory, Fazakerley, located near Liverpool. Fazakerley was one of the main manufacturers of the No. 5 Mk I Jungle Carbine.The "No. 5 Mk I" designation indicates it's a first and only major production variant of the Jungle Carbine, developed from the No. 4 Mk I rifle. The rifle was manufactured in May of 1946. Production of the No. 5 Mk I began in 1944 and ended in 1947.  Serial Number: W1408.The "W" prefix falls within a known range for Fazakerley production. The rifle being “all original” and still having the standard enamel finish black Suncorite paint) indicating a high level of preservation. The rubber buttpad is solid and fully intact. Flip-style rear sight adjustable to 800 yards.Fore-end and handguard made from hardwood. Conical flash hider. No bayonet lug — instead uses a unique spike bayonet that fits over the flash hider.
