This standard Trapdoor rifle bayonet was issued for use by sailors in the US Navy housed in arms lockers on ships. The 18" blade retains 85-90% of the original bluing with "US" on the ricasso, the blade has a shows light freckling and some nicks along the edges. The tip is excellent with no deviation. The 3 inch socket shows perhaps half of the original finish with some surface roughness and non-discernible lightly inscribed writing. The steel scabbard is mostly plum brown with a very small dent about four inches from the bottom on the back side with a slight separation on the top inside edge. The leather frog shows "C H" inspector marks with on the back and has good stitching with crazed surface but overall supple leather. A nice and very scarce US Navy bayonet that would add to a Trapdoor collection. Price: $625.00 |
