I have an extra Soviet Model TOZ-8 in my collection of cadet and military training rifles, and I would like to sell it. TOZ rifles are a family of .22 Long Rifle bolt-action cadet and military training rifles manufactured by the Tula Arms Plant in Russia. TOZ-8 is a single-shot .22 LR, bolt-action cadet rifle designed in 1932 by D.M. Kochetov and is robust and reliable in operation. TOZ-8 rifles were used to train generations of Russian military, paramilitary and police cadets and even appeared in the hands of resistance partisan units behind German lines on the Eastern Front during World War II. About one million TOZ-8s were produced from the early 1930s to the late 1950s. This rifle is correctly stamped with the Tula mark and production date of 1950. Sling swivels on bottom of buttstock and forend, pistol grip stock of beech or birch with no cracks or compression dents, metal polished and blued with no spotting or pitting, 25-inch chrome lined bull barrel with reflective bore and sharp rifling, all in very good condition. Correct end cap on receiver. Matching serial number 7791 on receiver and bolt. Not import marked. A previous owner removed the front hooded post and tangent U-notch rear sight and installed a side mounting plate on the receiver for an adjustable peep sight. For demonstration, I removed the Lyman peep sight from my Winchester Model 75 training rifle and attached it to the mounting plate of the TOZ-8 as shown in several photos. The Lyman sight is not included in the purchase of the rifle. The front ramp is dovetailed for installation of a post, blade or globe-type front sight. The buyer will need to consider sights for the rifle and the minimum price reflects that.
