We are located in Antrim, New Hampshire Description: Sharps Model 1865 Saddle Ring Carbine in 50-70 Center Fire Conversion This is a New Model 1865 Sharps Saddle Ring Carbine. It was equipped with a six-grove round 22" carbine barrel it was arsenal converted to 50-70 and refinished at that time (approximately 1867). It has a ladder rear sight that is stamped Lawrence. The frame, lock, lever, and butt plate all show vivid original arsenal applied Color case hardening. The walnut stock has a bold "DFC" ribbon (David Clark) and a strong cartouche of "RSL" (Richard Lawrence) at the wrist. It has the typical single barrel band, matching forearm, and saddle ring & bar. Condition: The overall condition of this Sharps carbine is excellent. The barrel retains nearly all the arsenal applied blue but slightly Sharps legend is soft from polishing when at the arsenal. The case colors are a strong 85% or better. Both sides of frame wear the Sharps legends. All the screws are in excellent shape and exhibit no abuse and even the screws retain majority of bright blue. Bore is bright and rifling is sharp. The stocks are matching and crisp with minor impressions from use. This is an excellent well cared for Sharps carbine in 50-70 in a fantastic condition that you don't typically find. This rifle is ready and capable of being shot and used for another 100 years. The 50-70 is a straight walled case and is pretty easy to reload using black powder and cast bullets. I have shot 50-70 for years, you can cast your own bullets or you can buy them. There are a number of places you can purchase bullets with black powder lube. We have some 50-70 brass cases available with the purchase of this carbine. This is an antique so it can be shipped directly to the buyer.
