Description:
I have for sale a correct May 1942 Springfield M1 garand. The serial number is 604716. The barrel is dated SA 4. 42 and is upside down. The barrel has a muzzle of 3 and a TE of 3. The barrel has light pitting but good rifling. The gas cylinder has a narrow front sight base with a beveled lock and a slotted lock screw. The front sight does not have the seal attached. The rear sight has a type 1 lock bar. The op rod s curved 3SA uncut. The bolt is marked D2287-12SA with heat lot RE5B. The follower assy is #8 with a WWII army and SA short fork. The handguard clip is grooved and the upper band s milled and arched.the bullet guide,oprod catch and stock ferrule are correct. The trigger housing is 5SA, safety -6SA, hammer-2. SA,and guard milled. The stock is SA GHS with the circled P on the grip and a 1918 HHB sling. The stock has been refinished and possibly restamped but is in overall excellent condition.
