Description:
FINE CONDITIION 1899 U.S. KRAG CARBINE, .30-40 CAL., #362XXX, MADE 1901. A very attractive carbine built by Springfield using a left over 1898 marked receiver. The receiver serial number date of manufactiure matches the sharp 1901 dated Cartouche on the left side of the stock. Correct carbine barrel with integral carbine front sight. As is typical on these 1898/99 carbines, it has the rifle rear sight graduated to "6" on the side and "18" on the ladder, slide intact. Has the humped 1899 carbine handguard in excellent condition. Solid butt stock with circle P cartoouche behind the trigger guard. Also has a circular cartouche or stamping on the left side of the stock that is partially visible- I can make out the word "COMPANY" and some other letters, but not sure of the meaning. Fine lightly aged barrel blue, dark receiver with exc. markings. Exc. blue on the trigger guard. Butt plate has the trap still conntaining rods and oiler. Tight action and exc. bore that is only a little dark but not pitted. Krag carbines are getting hard to find.
