Description:
This is a Krag bayonet stamped US on the obverse of the Ricasso and dated 1898 on the reverse. It measures 16 1/8 inches overall with an 11 5/8 inch fullered blade which remains armory bright with some light scratches, scattered carbon staining and a few tiny nicks along the edges. The crossguard and pommel show a mixture of pewter gray and spots of plum-brown. The wood grips remain solid and near excellent condition with light surface use marks. It comes in an early type steel scabbard which rates excellent showing virtually all of the original finish with the plain narrow belt hook and has the pinned hinge. A near excellent example of an early and scarce 1898 Krag bayonet.
