War fintlock pistol of about 60 cal, with a 11” round barrel with a moderately oxidized bore. This martial-sized pistol remains in very good plus condition and shows no obvious signs of reconversion though the touch hole is not quite aligned properly. The metal surfaces are mostly a mild gray and gray-brown patina showing some scattered light pitting and old oxidation staining. There is a small boxed “P” proof at the breech and the pistol otherwise seems to be unmarked. The lockplate is of rather simple construction with wide beveled edges and un-bridled frizzen, the trigger being rather dainty with a slight curlicue. Brass fittings include a thin band at the tip, faceted thimble and tailpipe, rather thin triggerguard, buttcap and thin beveled edge sideplate. The Eurpopean walnut stock features vaguely carved drop points and a raised point behind upper tang and rates very good with a few repaired cracks done long ago, along the sides behind the tip and some other light dings. A simple iron ramrod is present and the pistol has a large brass blade front sight. The lock seems to function strpong, mechanically., and the square tip frizzen showers profuse sparks into the pan When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
