Here’s a fine example of a classic piece of U.S. military history — a Springfield Armory Model 1896 Krag rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag. This rifle boasts the smooth, unique side-loading rotary magazine that defined the Krag–Jørgensen design and helped transition the U.S. military into the smokeless powder era. With a bright bore showing visible rifling, a Model 1901 rear sight upgrade, and metal and woodwork in excellent condition, this rifle is perfect for collectors or historical shooting enthusiasts. While lacking visible cartouches, the original character is well-preserved. With serial number 37222 placing production in the earlier wave of 1896 models, this is a true pre-1900 piece with turn-of-the-century charm and mechanical integrity. A beautiful addition to any martial arms collection.
