Based on the Model 1906 FN BROWNING/COLT MODEL 1903
Here we present a C&R French M.A.B. Model “A” Semi-Automatic Hammerless Pistol made by Manufacture d’Armes de Bayonne (M.A.B.) in Bayonne, France sometime between prior to World War I up to 1925. Serial numbering dating on these pistols and hard to nail down a specific date of manufacture, though. The M.A.B Model A is very clearly based on the Model 1906 FN Browning and the Colt Model 1903. The M.A.B. Model B went into production in August of 1932.
The M.A.B. Model A is a 6.35 mm (.25 ACP) caliber pocket pistol. It is a single action, striker fired, semi-automatic pistol with a blowback action. It has a Browning-style grip safety at the rear of the frame. This feature ensures that the firing mechanism does not operate unless the grip lock is depressed against the palm of the operator's hand, thereby eliminating chances of accidental firing of the weapon. This M.A.B. A was primarily a civilian self defense "pocket pistol”.
The overall condition is fine. Original finish preserved. Excellent action. Bright bore with strong rifling. Solid, good grips. Markings are sharp. “W.A.C.” marked on the right side of the slide.
