For your consideration, the Springfield Armory Model 1898 bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag. The model 1898 was manufactured by Springfield Armory based on Norwegian Krag-Jorgenson rifle and became the U.S. Military rifle in the late 1800s. However, its service was short-lived after facing the Mauser 1893 in the Spanish American War. It features a rather interesting side loading gate and rotary magazine. This magazine being cumbersome to load during battle led to it being replaced by the 1903 Springfield. Manufactured in 1903 .30-40 Krag
