Description:
With a .58 cal, half roiund /octagonal 10” barrel with an oxidized bore. The barrel and lock have mostly toned to a deep gunmetal gray and gray-brown patina showing some moderate oxidation along the barrel. There are some foliate motifs along both, and a few small brass inlays, the muzzle band being an elaborate fancy brass component with faux ramrod. The brass triggerguard, udal-strapped buttcap, decorative grip escutcheon and panoply of arms sideplate have toned to a dull ocher patina and show rudimentary starburst and crescent moon motifs. The walnut stock rates about very good with some thin nicks, wear, and small chips scattered about, the buttcap with some gaps. The pistol features curlicue trigger and flintlock construction with unbridled frizzen. The lock is very stiff but otherwise seems to function normally. The frizzen showers sparks into the pan.Overall very fancy ship's captain flintlock pistol.
