Description:
CASED Top Break HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON .32 S&W C&R Revolver RACINE SHERIFF

ROARING 20s Self Defense CONCEAL & CARRY Handgun

Here we present a Cased C&R Harrington & Richardson Top-Break Double Action Revolver in .32 S&W Centerfire, made circa the turn of the century in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 1875 Gilbert Harrington and former Frank Wesson employee, William Augustus Richardson, formed the new Harrington & Richardson Company. In 1888 the firm was incorporated as The Harrington & Richardson Arms Company. Their original capital investment was $75,000. Harrington was president, Richardson was treasurer, and George F. Brooks was secretary.

This 6-shot revolver would have been ideal for self-defense in early 20th-century turbulent times. In 1920, armed guard Alessandro Berardelli was ambushed, robbed, and killed while transporting payroll in Braintree, Massachusetts; he carried a similar H&R .38 revolver. The gun was recovered from anarchist Nicola Sacco, who, along with Bartolomeo Vanzetti, was convicted amid controversy. Their case fueled anarchist retaliations, including bombings like the Wall Street Bombing. Folk singer Woody Guthrie later memorialized them, sympathizing with their cause.

Also Included with this gun is a hardwood display case and badge marked "DEPUTY SHERIFF/142/RACINE COUNTY/1925/'26".

The overall condition is fine. Bright original nickel and blue finishes. Robust action. The bore is mostly bright with strong rifling. Fine grips. Numbers match. Markings are sharp. The case top is hand marked “Stanley”. Solid case overall. The holster is good. Lanyard loops, the lanyard, and belt hoop, are all detached but will be included.
