32744- MEXICAN WAR & CIVIL WAR WHITNEY U.S. MODEL 1841 PERCUSSION MISSISSIPPI RIFLE DATED 1848. 33” rifled .54 cal. barrel with Ordnance inspector’s stamps at left breech with “P” proof. Lock stamped “E. WHITNEY/US” and “N. NAVEN/1848”. Tang of butt plate stamped “US” and side panel with Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche. Superior all original and matching example including the ramrod. Beautiful condition with much original plum brown finish with dark patina on barrel and all the original finish on the stock. Perfect working order and good bore with crisp rifling. Extra nice original as issued Mississippi Rifle. $3250.
