This exceptional Deluxe Westley Richards 20 Bore sidelock shotgun showcases the finest in English gunmaking. Built on a true sidelock ejector action, this piece features double triggers, automatic safety, cocking indicators, and tight lock-up. The 26" barrels are choked Improved Cylinder and Modified, with a solid concave tapering rib and gold front bead. Bores are bright and clear, and the barrels retain 98% of their original blued finish.
The action is engraved in deep relief floral scroll with gold inlaid game scenes by master engraver Keith Thomas, one of England’s most revered artists. The left lock displays a quail on a stump in gold, the right shows a pheasant in flight, and the bottom bears the maker’s name on a scroll banner. Each scene is framed in elegant scrollwork. The gold inlays are vivid and beautifully set into the coin-finished action. The engraving is signed next to the trigger guard.
The exhibition-grade walnut stock is straight-hand with flowing figure and sharp checkering. The splinter forend matches perfectly, and both exhibit only minor handling marks typical of careful use. The gun is fitted with a checkered butt and measures 15.625" LOP. Very nice long LOP for tall shooter!
