Description:

Synopsis:

Rare late-war Mauser K98k sniper rifle, made by JP Sauer, with sheet metal barrel bands and trigger guard, some Mauser parts, matching with correct scope and sling.

Description:

Standard configuration and all matching late war Mauser K98k High Turret Sniper Rifle (cal. 8mm), assembled by JP Sauer, as reflected by proof on left receiver in front of SN, with hooded serrated ramp, drift adjustable front sight, and a tangent rear sight graded 1-20. Left side of the receiver marked with the full serial number and MOD. 98. All parts made to match the serial number 1007h, including the sheet metal barrel bands. Forward part of trigger guard assembly with byf code reflecting original Mauser manufacturer. A scattering of acceptance markings along sides of receiver, barrel bands, floorplate, bolt components, etc.. Correct base and scope rings, the forward ring armory renumbered on the left side to match. Fitted with AJACK 4x 90 scope, with top mounted adjustments, reticle with a bottom tapered post bracketed by 2 horizontal bands, and a rubber sun shade. Finely laminated stock with Mauser acceptance, having a cupped buttplate with checkered base and correct sling. Late-war German production often mixed manufacturers and components as resources became scarce.

Condition:

VG overall, with 90-95% rough milled original blue on metal components. More noticeable wear on trigger guard as photographed. Stock with oil darkening and scattered handling marks in expected areas as expecting a used service rifle. Bright optics with crisp reticle. Supple sun shade is likely a reproduction. Near mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A phenomenally rare and attractive German sniper rifle well suited for the most advanced WWII small arms collector!
