Receiver stamped “U.S.N./ANCHOR/8684/-N.C.T.-“. Consecutively numbered to a National Archives documented rifle on the Maine sister ship the USS Philadelphia which served in the Pacific during both the Span-Am War, Philippine Insurrection and Boxer Rebellion (SPRINGFIELD RESEARCH SERVICE VOL.3 PAGE 192). All issued to Sea Service Marines aboard those ships. Superb excellent plus example all matching and correct with nearly all the original blue and stock finish along with correct star/triangle stamps on wood where they should be(also star stamp on triggergiard and "4".
