Williams his patented Civil War bullets incorporated a zinc disk that flattened upon firing, engaging the rifling to push the bullet out and clean the bore at the same time. They are from a large collection that followed A Handbook of Civil War Bullets & Cartridges by Thomas and Thomas. Included in this assemblage is a fully intact paper cartridge identified as a #158 - .58 Caliber Williams Type 2 that remains in near excellent condition. Also included are 3 dug bullets #159 - .58 Cal Type 3 bullets with two rings and one disk. The final piece is a tied blue paper bullet missing the powder tube & these were color coded and supposed to be used every 10 rounds fired to clean the bore. All come in collector tubes and are identified with the number from the book. Photo of book is shown but not included for sale but are readily available online. Price: $145.00 |
