32524- SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1816 FLINTLOCK MUSKET DATED 1822. 42” smoothbore .69 cal. barrel with Springfield Armory “V/P/EAGLEHEAD” proofs at left breech and date stamped “1822” on the tang. Lock stamped “EAGLE/U.S.” and “SPRING/FIELD/1822”. Butt plate tang stamped “U.S.”. Butt plate, trigger guard, side plate and barrel bands with three digit assembly number stamp “140” and all matching. Original ramrod. Original flint with touch hole re-bushed. All original lock parts with hammer probable period replacement as patina darker than the frizzen and plate. Stock with old period repair about the barrel tang to the top rear of the lock plate. Otherwise fine overall with the original patina on metal and finish on wood. Working order and good bore. Probable worn touch hole blow-out and repair during the period of use. $1750.
