Fine Vintage Pre-War Walther Model 8 .25 Auto German Pistol
Offered here for sale and just acquired is this fine Walther Model 8 “Third variant” .25 ACP German pistol SN?724347 . Made circa mid?1930s, likely between 1934 and 1938. Third variant pistol serial numbers span 715,200–745,000, produced from 1933/34 to 1940. Since this specimen’s serial number falls cleanly in the third?variant range, it dates to 1933/34–1940.
Third?variant pistols are characterized by no disassembly button on the trigger guard. A tension spring installed over the trigger guard holds it in place. The usual crown?over?N proof mark (nitro proof); eagle?over?N stamping only appears later in 1940, and is rare on Model 8s.
This specimen’s excellent blued finish and original factory magazine align perfectly with 1930s-issue third-variant examples—these were commonly carried yet many were refinished post-war. The high degree of originality suggests it’s a fine preservation piece.
