Description: VERY RARE Mann’s Patent Model 1920-21 German .25 Auto Pistol Offered for sale and just acquired is a very rare German .25 auto pistol made in the early years following WWI. This is a model 1920-21 Mann's Patent .25 auto pistol. Serial number 12215-21 this specimen has a 2.5" barrel and is all original and shows only light use. It retains the great majority of its original blue even showing original blue on its screw heads. The factory hard rubber grips are also excellent as is bore. Original magazine as well. Certainly a specimen which would qualify as a worthy acquisition in any collection of German auto pistols. These pistols were manufactured in very limited quantities in the early 1920s and are notable for their quality craftsmanship, scarcity, and unusual mechanical design. The manufacturer: “Mann Werk “ was a small manufacturer in Suhl or Zella-Mehlis, Germany). Collectors refer it as a Mann’s Patent Model 1920-21. Caliber.25 ACP (6.35mm Browning) its production years were circa 1920–1923, shortly after World War I. Very low production—believed to be under 15,000 units total. Serial 12215-21 would place this example near the end of production, likely 1921 or early 1922. The Mann's Patent pistols are unique mechanically-a fixed barrel blowback design. Distinctive recoil spring arrangement located around the barrel. No external safety—some versions rely on a half-cock position or internal passive safety. 2.5-inch barrel standard for this model. High quality blued finish and detailed machining, reflecting traditional German precision work. This example exhibits all original finish with bright blue on screw heads. Excellent bore and original grips (factory hard rubber). Original magazine. As noted it has seen only light use, no rebluing, and complete originality make this one of the better-conditioned specimens of this rare pistol type that we have seen in our more than 5 decades in the business and one would be hard pressed to find equal or better specimens on the market as they were made in very limited quantities and the very few on the market have seen quite extensive use. There is just a bit on fine "pin prick" patina on heel of frame in the area of the stamped serial number. The Mann 1920-21 is rare, even among advanced collectors of German pocket pistols. This pistol would be a worthy centerpiece in any collection of interwar German automatic pistols, reflecting the transitional firearms design era after the Treaty of Versailles.
