Description:
This is a Krag bayonet stamped US on the obverse of the ricasso and dated 1899 on the reverse. It measures 16 1/4 inches overall with an 11 1/2 inch fullered blade unsharpened with remnants of a blue finish with the balance a dull pewter showing numerous light scratches and mild scabbard wear. The crossguard and pommel show some dried oil and have a somewhat dull pewter brown appearance with excellent wood grips. It comes in a model 1892 steel scabbard with areas of light pitting and has the Model 1899 Belt attachment with the wide double wire attachment to prevent belt fraying.
